The company specialise in the re-assessment of all types of cranes which have reached their original design life and as part of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) and Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) need to be re-certified for continued use. As an employer all companies have a “duty of care” for the plant and as such should maintain the plant in good working order.

The assessment of a crane would normally involve the following:
  • Investigating the original design of the crane structure and mechanisms the codes that existed at the time of manufacture and comparing them with modern standards.
  • Review operations over the existing life cycle
  • Review maintenance and breakdown records
  • Assessment of crane structure against modern standards
  • Assessment of all crane mechanisms against modern standards
  • Assessment of crane electrics against modern standards
  • Civil structures such as building supports and concrete flooring can also form part of the assessment.
  • Planned future use of the asset

Methods statements and risk assessments are provided for all aspects of on-site survey work. All surveys being carried out by suitably qualified and experienced personnel.

This assessment culminates in a detailed report with a suggested life extension period of the asset before more inspection work is required. In addition the cost of replacing the asset is also considered, as it may be more economic than carrying out detailed assessment work.
