Crane Surveys and Refurbishment

The company can provide expert surveys of existing cranes which can lead to refurbishment of certain crane elements such as new control panels, resistances, brakes, mechanisms, etc.
Surveys normally involve the following engineering disciplines: -
  • Civils and Structures, Long term derogation due to environment, fatigue life issues, and operation.
  • Mechanics, fatigue issues and general wear & tear.
  • Electrics, motors, brakes, control equipment such as limit switches, enclosures, switchgear, operator controls, etc.

In addition original design life, maintenance, anticipated design life extension and eventual cost of replacement could all be considered.
As part of these detailed surveys some clients wish to gain an understanding of where their crane falls short of compliance with modern standards, including LOLER and PUWER. This is so they understand the risks associated with continued operation of the crane.
Typical surveys recently completed are associated with the following industrial sectors:
  • Conventional Power Stations.
  • Nuclear Power Stations Cranes,
  • Nuclear Reprocessing Plant cranes
  • General industry workshop cranes.
